The Sun Shines on Nanosolar

Nanosolar, previously famous for being part funded by Google Co. Founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, but now hitting the headlines over a recent $100m funding round is again upping the stakes on getting thin film solar technologies to market.

The company teamed up with Germany’s Conenergy to build large scale solar plants which will “produce the cheapest solar power yet,” by which they mean comparable with conventionally generated electricity.

While solar energy is a sector which has been plagued by hype and dashed hopes, it does at least look as if progress is being made, although there is nothing better than a bit of global instability to boost alternative energy investments.
