A Small Exit

Polaron announced today that they have sold their “Oxford Nanoscience” subsidiary to Imago Scientific Instruments for $2.25m in cash and the issue of $2.1m of preferred stock.

ONS and Imago make almost the same piece of equipment, so it is more of an industry consolidation than anything to get too excited about. There is a limited market for surface science equipment of this nature, as we found at one of my fisrt companies, VG Ionex, before it was re absorbed into its parent and bought, sold and gradually dismembered throughout the 90’s. Oddly enough, the VG group owned Polaron at one stage.
