Blast From The Past

Mike Roco pops up in this months Scientific American with an article titled “Nanotechnology’s Future,” although it reads more like a blast from the past, 1999 to be precise.

The article trots out the old trillion dollar market figures, and the old four stage predictions (passive, active, systems and the whole enchilada) which comes as a surprise, as there is a world of difference between the [predictions made to get a funding initiative such as the NNI off the ground, and grim reality.

We are no 100% convinced that Roco’s predictions in 1999 were 100% accurate, and a more realistic asessment is long overdue.
