Europe Lags R&D League – Again

The international R&D Scoreboard makes grim reading for Europeans, but highlights the huge increases in R&D spending in Asia.

Fastest growth was in Aerospace and Defence. while the secror perhaps most relevant from a nanotech point of view, the chemical industry continued its downward R&D trend.

These surveys are always fascinating, not just for the details but also for the longer term macroeconomic trends which they reveal. This year as an added bonus the FT gives us a nice interactive map of the global R&D landscape to play with.
